My first fishing trip
It was my first time fishing, I had just gone out and bought
a rod, reel, 4lb line, maggot box and a fishing box that you can sit on.
Ben and I set off to find somewhere to fish that was not that expensive to fish.
The place we found was called Horsham lake in Upchurch. It is quite a big
lake and was only £3 a rod, so we went along the muddy road to the lake. When we
arrived at the lake it was about half past six in the morning and there was hardly anyone
there. By the time we set up it was about seven o'clock and a few more people had
arrived.
Well any way it was about half eight when I caught my first fish, it was only a
small roach under a 1lb. Then about ten minutes later Ben asked me to bring over
the landing net as he had hooked, what he thought, was a big fish but it was only a
baby carp weighing 1lb 6oz. After that neither of us had bites until about half past
eleven when I hooked quite a big fish which turned out to be a 3lb 4oz carp. I was happy
with this catch for my first time fishing. From then on neither of us caught
anything big enough to be proud of so we started to pack up at about ten to five and then
I went home and told my mum about our day out fishing and she asked if I would like to go
again and I said yes.
